Tuzla Airport anticipates handling some 480.000 passengers this year, which would represent growth of almost 55% on 2016, local authorities have said.
The increase in travellers will come as a result of Wizz Air, which will station a second aircraft in the city this March and launch new flights to Bratislava, Cologne, Friedrichshafen and Vaxjo. Furthermore, it will boost frequencies on several existing routes.
The airport also plans to invest some two million euros in upgrading and expanding its terminal building. The added capacity will enable the airport to handle 800 passengers per hour, up from the current 400.
Furthermore, the new-look terminal will stretch over an area of 4.915 square metres, whereas the current facility covers 2.971 square metres.
Tuzla Airport recently put into use a part of its new approach lighting system, which should ease traffic disruption during adverse weather conditions. (Exyuaviation.com)
