The Sarajevo Tobacco Factory (FDS), the largest tobacco company in Bosnia, called off the second shift and halved the production.
According to local media writing, tobacco company has been forced to reduce capacity “due to unprofitability”, because of the strengthening of the tobacco black market.
As stated, this tobacco factory has been seeing sales drop each day.
The information was also confirmed by the Director of the Sarajevo Tobacco Company, Edin Mulahasanovic.
– A year and a half ago we canceled the second shift. We are working just one shift from 6am to 2pm. It's all because of the market drop, Mulahasanovic said.
Austria's CID Adriatic Investments purchased a 78.7 percent stake in FDS, using financing provided by British American Tobacco.
