Robert De Niro visited so called Tunnel of Hope. The tunnel was built during the war under the Sarajevo Airport and was the only link between besieged city and the rest of the world.

De Niro visited hills above Sarajevo from where the city was shelled during the war. He was interested in the 1992-1995 war period when the city was under siege for three and a half years.

Robert De Niro has arrived in Sarajevo. Plane with the hollywood actor landed at Sarajevo International Airport about an hour ago.
Robert De Niro will present the iconic “Taxi Driver” at the Opening of 22nd edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
“We are honored to have Robert De Niro as the first recipient of the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo – Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Mirsad Purivatra, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
