Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened today in Sarajevo. This is the first event in the country which brings together representatives of government, business and academia, with the common goal of improving the economic and business environment in BiH, Anadolu Agency (AA) reports.

The Forum was opened by Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic, who said that it is good for BiH it got a chance to have a forum in which views of those who form the business environment and those who work in this environment can be exchanged.

“BiH needs a lot more time and attention to devote to the economy, because it is a requirement of our development. Without turning to the economy, we will stagnate if dealing only with political issues, but we have to make maximum breakthroughs and create an environment in which investing pays off. BiH must change its image, and there are a lot of things that are not so bad both politically and economically, but that are rarely mentioned. Despite all the criticism, we have a stable currency and I think it is extremely important that it remains stable and not to make any political experiments with the Central Bank, because I believe that the way in which we did it here in this region would ultimately cause inflation and currency instability,” said Ivanic.

He pointed out that the essence of economic reforms should turn to reducing the importance of the public sector and that the priority should be to create a favorable environment which would include tax cuts and creation of conditions for faster and easier repayment of investments.
