Bosnia’s Service for Foreigners’ Affairs said the operation codenamed “Real Estate” is underway throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Head of the Service, Slobodan Ujic, said they are checking real estate and companies in BiH owned by foreign nationals.
Ujic said the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs is carrying out checks of more than 700 companies and 16 resorts.
The action was described as a “continuation of previous activities”. Ujic said public will be informed on its result next week.
He confirmed that checks include citizens of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Russia, Libya and Ukraine.
According to him, the operation was launched after it was found that some companies have a deposit of only two thousand KM, but at the same time have 20 properties worth millions of KM.
Many owners of those companies were not found at the addresses of the companies during previous checks.
Checks are conducted in cooperation with Border police, State investigation and protection agency (SIPA) and tax authorities.
In Bosnia, nationals of the Gulf countries can not possess real estate, which is why many of them established companies only to register real estate as the company’s assets.
