The winner of the Silver Bear in 2013 at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), Nazif Mujic from Bosnia Herzegovina, has sold the statue today for 4,000 Euros.

Nazif yesterday announced that he is offering Silver Bear for sale for 5.000 Euros, because he and his family are struggling to survive and have no money for food.

Today he told media that he sold it to the jeweler Nevres Hadzic Goga from the town of Srebrenik, for 4,000 Euros.

He said he was forced to do it for financial reasons, because they “have no flour in the house.”
The film from Bosnian-Herzegovinian filmmaker Danis Tanovic, “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker,” scored two Silver Bears at the film festival: one for the film, and the other for Best Actor.

In the story, Nazif plays himself – an iron collector who is fighting for medical aid for his wife, who suffered a miscarriage.

As a result of their Roma heritage, they experience difficulties such as poverty and stereotyping. They have neither health care coverage nor money to even pay a doctor.

It's a dramatic odyssey with a happy end, as the wife is finally able to see a doctor with a borrowed health care card.
