Mercator has begun the process of the so-called monetization of large shopping centers at a rapid pace at the level of the whole group, including BiH, Slovenian newspaper Dnevnik reported.

Monetization means selling buildings that are then rented from the new owner to get fresh capital.

Mercator confirmed the information for Dnevnik, and said:

We promised not to disclose project details. The project results, which will be completed this summer, will be published afterwards. We can say that 17 centers are involved in the project in Slovenia, Croatia and BiH, the company said.

When it comes to Slovenia, the largest Mercator in Siska is up for sale. It covers 30,000 square meters. There are seven more stores in Slovenia, i.e. in Kranj, Jesenice, Koper.

The famous Super Konzum Radnicka in Zagreb, which is one of the largest Mercator shopping centers in the Balkans, is being sold as well. The project also includes centers in Pula, Rijeka and Split.

When it comes to centers in BiH, the project includes the largest shopping centers in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Banja Luka.

Dnevnik writes that the current situation on the real estate market is favorable for Mercator. This is confirmed by the fact that the biggest shopping center in Belgrade is sold for almost 50 million Euros.

The offers for sales are sent to potential investors across the globe.
