Former Brisbane Roar midfielder Javier Hervas has left Bosnian side Zeljeznicar Sarajevo without playing a match after he and his wife were attacked by stray dogs according to a report in World Soccer.
The Spaniard, who played 17 times for the Roar last season, has now joined Spanish second division side Mirandes.
World Soccer reports that Hervas and his wife “were out walking their pet dog when they were attacked by stray dogs in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo and his wife insisted they leave the country immediately.”
Zaljeznicar released a statement saying they had terminated the players contract immediately after “express request from the player.”
“Hervas has not adapted to the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina and, at the insistence of his family, especially his wife, wants to return to his country,” the statement read.
Hervas is best known for his time with Sevilla and Cordoba.
