Croatia and Bosnia launched on Wednesday the construction of the 22.3 million euro Svilaj bridge over the river Sava, which will connect the two countries via the pan-European transport Corridor Vc.
The cornerstone was laid by Bosnia's minister of transport Ismir Jusko and his Croatian counterpart Oleg Butkovic.
The bridge, 640 meters long and 29 meters wide, will have three lanes. The deadline for the completion of construction works is two years.
The project is financed through a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and European funds for Croatia, as well as by EU grants to Bosnia and the country's own resources.
