Construction of the first tourist city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Buroj Ozone, will start early next month in the municipality of Trnovo.
The project of Buroj Ozone is worth as much as 4.5 billion KM (2,3 billion Euros), and the deadline for implementation is 2025.
Complex consists of more than 75 hotels, a huge shopping mall, more than 1,000 luxury villas, many sport and cultural facilities, as well as the cable car to the top of Bjelasnica.
It will be located in the municipality of Trnovo which lies below the Bjelasnica and Igman mountains, venue of the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, around 20km from Sarajevo.
The municipality of Trnovo and Buroj Company will officially announce the beginning of the work on Thursday.
Bosnia has seen an influx of tourists from the Middle East in recent years and a growing number of Middle Eastern buyers of properties, attracted by the country's mountain landscape.
The project will create at least 10,000 local jobs, he said.
“The aim of this unique project is to turn Bosnia and Herzegovina into a tourism leader of southeast Europe and to put its rich natural resources at the disposal of local and international clients,” Ismail Ahmed, the company's manager said earlier.
A World Tourism Organisation study predicts that Bosnia would have the third highest tourism growth rate in the world by 2020.
