Bosnian state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda BiH said it has signed a coal supply deal worth 382.6 million marka ($204.5 million/195.6 million euro) with its own mining units and local brown coal mine Banovici.
EPBiH's six coal mines and state-controlled Banovici will supply the utility with 6,542,945 tonnes of coal, to be used for the production of electricity in 2017, the power utility said in a statement on Wednesday.
EPBiH's mines will provide some 5.5 million tonnes of coal, while Banovici will supply the remainder.
A total of 4,002,945 tonnes of coal are intended for the thermal power plant Tuzla, EPBiH's largest TPP, while the remainder will be used by Kakanj TPP.
EPBiH plans to produce 7,695 GWh of electricity in 2017. As of December 7, the utility has produced 6,913 GWh in 2016.
