Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic said today in Sarajevo that Bosnia and Herzegovina has met all conditions for the export of poultry meat, meat products and eggs in the EU.

After meeting with representatives of the BiH Poultry Association, Sarovic said that they worked on meeting conditions in accordance with the Action Plan which was agreed with relevant institutions of the European Union.

He added that BiH companies for which they are sure they meet requirements will be selected first, in order not to repeat mistakes.

– We believe Bosnia and Herzegovina is ready and meets the requirements, and if it weren’t experts of the Directorate for food safety and health of the EU would not come to the announced inspection in few months, so I'm absolutely optimistic – said Sarovic.

He explained that the inspection experts will come in this year, after which we should get permission for export, and that they are currently working on agreeing the exact date.

He said that there was only one case of bird flu in BiH in the area of Prijedor, on a farm and not in production facilities and that the issue is under control.

A representative of the BiH Poultry Association Predrag Milicic said that these producers are ready to give it a try on the demanding EU market, and that today's meeting gave them assurance they will continue to have good cooperation with regard to projects of this ministry.
